19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent defended four early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
